My Foodie Penpals delivery!!!

I was so excited today when I received my Foodie Penpals box! This was my first time trying this out and I was anxious to see what I would get. Who doesn't love to get brand-new, unique, interesting, exciting foods for free?!?
My Foodie Penpals Delivery!

As soon as I saw my box I knew it was going to be awesome!! It was from home. California. I don't live there anymore and I haven't lived there for 35-ish years but California is where I'm from!
When I opened up the box inside were my beautifully packaged treats.

The first thing I saw was a box of organic figs. I immediately opened them up and popped one in my mouth! YUM! Then I proceeded to unwrap the rest of my treats. My note from my new Foodie Penpal, Priscilla, said that all of these things (or almost all of them) were directly from California. That made them all the more special. What a great idea! I'll have to remember that for next time! Maybe I'll pack up some things that are only found in Florida. Although I'm not sure exactly what that would be...
Anyway, Priscilla sent me some amazing organic honey, the organic figs and some organic chocolate - three different flavors! Each flavor was completely unique! One of the chocolates was called Sweet and Hot, a mix of hibiscus and ginger. It had a citrusy flavor to it and a back note of ginger at the end. It also was a little spicy if you let it rest on your tongue! So cool! The next chocolate I tried was called Matcha Green Tea Peppermint. It was really cool how you could taste the green tea flavor in it. And the peppermint made it taste like an Andees candy! The third and final chocolate was called Dark as Midnight and it tasted just like that, really dark chocolate - 75% Cacao. I loved each one! But I think the green tea was my fave - so unique! My last treat was a box of natural strawberry biscuits shortbread biscuits from California (by way of Japan first!). :-)  All of these items were so tasty and fun to explore.

Thank you Priscilla for such a lovely Foodie Penpal treat box. And thank you Lindsay for thinking up this great program!

And now time for some details about Foodie Penpals.
-On the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
-Foodie Penplas is open to US & Canadian residents.  Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. We've determined things might get too slow and backed up if we're trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa.
If you’re interested in participating for May, please CLICK HERE to fill out the participation form and read the terms and conditions.
You must submit your information by May 4th as pairings will be emailed on May 5th!

*If you're from somewhere besides the US, Canada or Europe and want to participate, send Lindsay an email and she'll see if we get enough interest this month!
