Publix Greenwise Market

Recently while visiting my grandma in Tampa, Florida, I decided to check out the Publix Greenwise Market. The place is amazing! It has a parking garage! It has the escalators that take your basket up to your car. It was just like being back in San Diego! The store has an unbelievable selection like I've never seen at any store, including my Publix at home. I had so much fun wandering up-and-down every aisle and checking out each and every thing that they had! Some of the items were regular Publix merchandise that I can find at my store, but a lot of it was specifically organic or gluten-free. There was a whole aisle of gluten-free items! This would be heaven for some of my gluten-free Tweeps!

View from the escalator up to the parking garage!
It had a huge wine selection and the bakery and deli were absolutely beautiful. Everything smelled so wonderful. There were at least five things I wanted to get right then from the deli area. They had a really cool serve yourself lunch bar area with just all kinds of yummy looking food. You could get yourself a little (or big) healthy lunch and sit down on the cute little porch area outside to eat.

The wine section - I couldn't fit in the whole thing in the pic! It's so big!!!
The beautiful bakery section - so many treats!
This is not your typical Publix! I sure hope we get one in Jacksonville soon. That would be dreamy! I spoke to one of the Publix employees who told me that they are now opening hybrid markets, which is part Greenwise Market attached to a regular Publix store. They're opening one in Kissimmee next and then there will probably be one soon near Jacksonville. Yeah!!

My haul from the Market - things I can't find at ANY store in Jacksonville!

And of course I had to take a pic of the parking garage & cart return! So cute!

Back to Boston

This morning I leave for my annual trip to Boston. It has now become a summer habit! And I will have to return every summer, thanks to last year's inaugural BAA 10k. I plan to be a streaker in this race! For however long it lasts and for as long as I can run it - I will be there.
BAA 10k 2011
So this will be my second running of the Boston 10k. This year I'm taking along my boyfriend. He's never been to Boston! I have been going to Boston for four summers in a row now. My first trip was a "business" trip and from then on, I was hooked! Each year I discover more fabulous things in and around the city. I love the history of it all! I have walked the Freedom Trail and driven to Lexington & Concord to tour that area.

I have visited Gloucester and had a beer at the Crow's Nest, the bar from The Perfect Storm.

I've been to games in Fenway for the last two years - both of them were losing games. I hope to see a win this year!!
Fenway Frank & a Sam Adams - the perfect baseball combo!

It's just a fun, wonderful place! No matter what "type" you are, you can find something in Boston! History, sports, culture, FOOD!!

And if you are the running type, like me, Boston is the Mecca for us!
1 Ash Street, Hopkinton, Mass
I drove the entire route of the Boston Marathon last year. It took me 5 1/2 hours - which ironically is how long it took me to finish my first ever marathon this February, The National Marathon to Finish Breast Cancer. It was amazing to go thru all of the towns I'd seen and heard about. To see the landmarks of the race and walk up Heartbreak Hill was just a dream come true for this baby marathoner!
I hope to return one day to run not only the BAA 10k, but all of the other races the BAA puts on. I would love to do the medley one year of the 5k before the Marathon, the 10k in the summer and the Half in October. And then one day, somehow, return to run in the actual Boston Marathon.
To break my time from last year - 1:04:12 - on the 10k this year would be great! I am so looking forward to running thru my favorite city once more! And this time with my boyfriend by my side! I've been training and trying to stay strong! I got in some "hills" the other night - better known as bridges here in Florida! I think I'm ready!
Bridges before Boston

The rainbow has got to mean good luck, right?!?

Summer Goals

I've seen a lot of posts recently about June goals. I decided I wanted to do one too! And here it is the middle of June and I'm finally sitting down to finish writing it! It seems more appropriate for me to now say these will be my summer goals. Especially with the Summer Solstice today! I'm a teacher and am out of school for the summer. I think to myself  "Finally! Now I can do what I want to do!" I have such a long list! I prefer to run in the morning but don't have enough time during the school year - mainly because I don't like to run in the dark by myself!! I have so many exercise DVDs I've been ignoring for a long time that I need to dust off! I want to keep things fresh and interesting so I stay with it and don't waste away my summer being LAZY!!!

So here are MY SUMMER GOALS:

Do a different workout every week when I'm at home or at least until I get good at it then try another new one! Trying out some of these DVDs that I've got sitting around for yoga and Pilates. Trying to keep up with MY favorite trainer Jillian Michaels and her DVDs. I really want to try her Kickboxing one!

Try out the different sequences on my yoga apps for my iPhone.

Run a different route no matter even if it's on the same street! I'll just go a different direction or back through different neighborhoods that I haven't gone into yet. I'll turn down random streets and try not to get lost! I'll return to old faves I haven't run in awhile - they'll still feel new! I'll change it up and keep things fresh and different so that I never get bored all summer long!!

I need to really be more careful with what I put into my body as fuel! I will still enjoy my food but I will watch portions. I will avoid added sugars and processed stuff! I read somewhere if it comes in a box, bag or can and has a long list of ingredients, you may want to think twice about putting it into your body!

I will READ more! I have a stack of books and magazines that are just calling my name! Now that I don't have papers to grade or lesson plans to write, I can read!!!

Heal my shoulder and somehow continue all of these workout plans. If I do my physical therapy exercises everyday, sometimes twice a day, it will heal and I will get stronger. I need to work on my "wings" - keeping my shoulders back instead of hunching over all the time - Like now! Sit up straight!!

I will work on my blog posts more. I write in my head so often. I never take the time to sit down and put it on the computer! I want to be like so many of the other fitness bloggers I follow! I want to be a source people turn to for info on great races and places around the world! I have to write it all down in order to be that person!!!

Have you made out a list of goals for your summer?

Sticking to my Summer goals, I decided to run Bayshore the other day in the opposite direction that I normally go. I ran past the Academy of Holy Names where my mother went to school. I ran past one of my favorite restaurants, the Colonnade. I ran for about a mile and a half in that direction, south, and as I'm nearing my turnaround spot I very obnoxiously trip! It was a quite dramatic fall and I wish I had a video of it to show in slow motion. Picture this: I fell down towards the sidewalk, was somehow redirected to the right towards the grass and then snatched back up to standing. I'd like to think that was my angels!! My angels kept me from completely hitting the ground! The man that was walking towards me as all of this happened looked about as shocked as I was that I was still standing and NOT flat on my face! I thanked my angels out loud for that one!
As I'm running back to the starting point of the day's run, I trip again! This time I'm near the seawall and grab a hold of it. Again, never managing to actually hit anything or fall or even scrape myself! I was just flying through the air for fun I guess! Thank you, angels, for not letting me hit the ground! It could've been very messy!! I have a race in Boston next weekend - a skinned knee - or worse - would not have been good at all!
A collage of scenes on my run!

Have your angels ever saved you from a messy fall while running?
